Tokyo World

Festival update August 12th, 2020

To all Tokyo World community & masses, as we all know, our country was sent into lockdown in March this year due to Covid-19. Our intention has been clear throughout this pandemic - to come together and create more memories as one Tokyo World family in September. This year has probably been one of the hardest years we have faced & we’re sure it’s the same for everyone during these testing times.

We strongly believed that, given our event was six months away from the start of lockdown, it would be safe for our gates to open & that Tokyo World would take place in September. We have held out for as long as we possibly could & remained hopeful that this would be the case. The government’s final road map to the easing of this lockdown & return of mass gatherings sadly begins in October.

There have been many U-turns during these unprecedented times, unknowns & uncertainties, but it now looks like there is not going to be a U-turn on this decision. We love delivering our event but there is no option to stage the event as planned due to the decision made & ultimately our priority is and always will be the safety of our customers, artists and crew.

With this in mind Tokyo World 2020 will be postponed. We continue to liaise with authorities regarding outdoor events & it is not an option to reschedule our event for the early part of next year at this time. So, Tokyo World will take place on September the 18th & 19th, 2021.

Due to the high volume of tickets sold for this year, we will be increasing the capacity to 25 000 in 2021 so we can truly celebrate a bigger & stronger event than ever before. This situation is absolutely terrible for all of us, we are extremely sad & disappointed. But the safety aspects must come first & together we will dance again in 2021.

These plans will now commence. We will be adding additional artists to what is already an incredible program. The next edition of Tokyo World will be released at a much earlier date following the cancellation of 2020. It is safe to say that for us; summer is now officially over. However, we will come through this stronger - for us now it is just a matter of time before we can do what we love doing & present Tokyo World 2021.

To everyone with tickets for Tokyo World 2020, we are sure you have lots of questions about what happens next regarding your tickets. These will all be valid for Tokyo World 2021, there will also be an option for a refund. Our ticket contractors, the Ticket sellers, Festicket and Pollen will be emailing you today outlining your options and details relating to all ticket questions.

It is very difficult to be positive today following this huge disappointment, but we must all still stay safe & look forward to our freedoms fully returning. Tokyo World is fully independent & we would like to say a huge thank you to the support we’ve been given during this pandemic from all our customers & you can rest assured we will indeed smash 2020 into oblivion upon our return in 2021.

Look out for each other & stay safe
